Merry Xmas... and good bye to the festive season :'(
Been busy these few days cause it seems like everybody living near king albert's park love to do some last-minute shopping before christmas. The entire cold storage resembles a mini orchard road smacked right into bukit timah with all the crazy customers rushing in to order their turkeys and xmas whatevers. The F&V room is like robinsons when the staff move in and out of the F&V room to get turkeys, log cakes, and xmas trees and its pretty irritating when they scream the customer's orders across the room. Not forgetting the crazy-bickering customers who quarell over the weight of the turkeys when the birdies are only less than 1kg out of their range, and im not sure why an extra 500g will kill them, it's not like they cant afford it(BUKIT TIMAH-BUNGALOWS-RICH PPL, HELLO!?!?)It's troublesome to even get the cart out of the store room and seeing the literally non-moving traffic outside, it's a whole pain in the ass just to deliver one crate of apples. Even when i managed to get outside with countless "excuse me's", i get bombarded by customers asking me for this and that, so it takes like 5 minutes just to finish stacking whatever thats in my cart, which usually takes just 1-2 minutes.According to Joven's forever inaccurate-untrustable-believe at ur own risk-statistics, KAP CS managed to sell about 400 (and counting) turkeys this festive season! Man, that's a hell lot of turkeys...The xmas buffet was crap, there was nothing left on the table when i reached there, but the aunties gave me a tub of haazen-daz cookies and cream ice cream to enjoy, yes, a whole tub to myself :DHopefully, the remaining 3 days wont be so exhausting for me, and working seems to be much more fun now(injuries excluded).Last minute till the end of christmas, and the start of boxing day...Merry Christmas guys, enjoy it cause it only comes once a year :)

First time working overtime in cold storage, not by 10 minutes, but 4 more hours the day before yesterday. Apparently, one of my co-worker's grandmother is sick and could not come for work, so i had to cover his shift for him and i worked from 10am to 10pm, 12 long hours, before returning home. The worse thing was that i was told by my supervisor to work overtime right when i was about to leave the supermarket, totally sianz right...
Endured through the night alone in the F&V room, picking disgusting super rotten cherries from the ALREADY rotten ones, so that they can be resold in the shelves, now u know how supermarkets work when they wanna save on some cash, totally wicked.
Took some photos with my phone when i got bored in the room, check 'em out.
With the floor littered and stained with whatever shit there is, it's the perfect working environment! (sarcasm)
air conditions in the chiller rooms, keeping the temperature sometimes below -200 degrees C so that the turkeys are kept frozen.
US circuit racer, maximum speed of 350 miles/h. Not for sale.
Yes, Sir
Since last Sunday, i've been seeing benjamin for all my working days and that includes both my bus trips to and from work, such coincidence. He's the one who actually noticed me in the bus as im always in a daze during the trips.
Turns out he's working as a promoter in bukit timah plaza which is just opposite the place im working at, and he's earning $6/h which is much more than me :'( and he works 12-8 daily same as my shift, that's why we see each other in the bus even though different bus stops.
He's suppose to promote a product by doing a demo when the customers come and get them to sign up or something. Zi xian is also working in the same popular branch but as a different job, saw him yesterday when he came over to macdonald's while i was having lunch by the stairs.
Went to bukit timah plaza right after my lunch to see what it's like. There's a hell lot of maid agencies, like about 1 every floor. No food court but a lot of those small stalls selling cooked food, and the whole place looks kinda old maybe cause there's not a lot of people walking around in the mall.
And benjamin always says 'Goodbye, Sir' to me when he alights from bus.
P/S - There's 2 weird chinese boys yesterday, asking me whether cold storage sells tv cables while i was stacking fruits. Hmm, so i was wondering whether i shld hand them a brinjal or something before i led them to the appliances area. And i have no idea why the kids over there like to weigh their cars and dolls on the weighing scale. Labels: benjamin, cold, npcc, storage, work, zi xian
Peeps in the F&V room
For tonight, i shall compile the names of the people working together with me in the hell-like F&V room, which is forever dirty even though the cleaners pop in 2 to 3 times each hour to snack on fruits.(shall take a picture next time)AuntiesAh Loy Auntie - Auntie who introduced me to the other staff members of the F&V crew, also known as the most hardcore auntie in the department. She's forever asking me to hurry up when im pushing carts of vegetables in the morning, sometimes i feel like she really wants me to run with the cart.
Ivy Auntie - Most senior auntie in the department, the only person who helped me out with the calculation of wastage and the codes of vegetables. She's the one who can recite out any 6 digit codes of whatever fruits or veges, and i have no idea how anybody can possibly memorise all of the codes. Me - "Auntie, whats the code for the 110C Dragonfruit 100g packet one arh?"Ivy - "Alamak, it's 164987, faster write down." (without referring to any notes) ? Auntie - Very quiet auntie, in-charged of wraping and weighing fruits. Only sentence she spoke to me was "Ah boy, u waiting for O' levels izit?"Indians
Azmi - Otherwise known as Assmi, funny guy who always asks me to carry stuff for him. Works in the morning shift. Knows a bit of chinese too. Oh ya, his instructions for picking and packing grapes? Rotten = Throw, Angry = Eat. Ah Bang - Friendly guy and also very hardworking. Works at the night shift daily and comes from M'sia. Seems to be very popular in the department and also with the others. For no reason, the other indians always ask me whether hes the most handsome one or not. I am in doubt whether to say yes(hes quite good-looking) or getting beaten up. The only person left in F&V after 8pm (when i leave) is him. ? - Dont know the name, but hes fat and always slacking around. In-charge of the fruit juices area. Always flirting with malay cleaners. One thing common for all 3 indians- they all speak both tamil and malay. Me - only one auntie in the department calls me by my actual name, the other aunties just call me "Ah Boyyyyyyyyy"(extra long stretch), and the indians always call me "eh,bro"
